vaasthu Directions

vaasthu Directions

Directions play an important role in Vastu. Right knowledge of direction is very important to make a building structure according to vaastu. In the olden days people who needed to check the directions very minutely, used to see the shadow of sun. In the modern technical world the instrument called magnetic compass is used to check the directions. In the total there are 10 directions but to check with compass only 8 directions are available. Compass has 360 degrees in total with its radius. Every direction is allotted 45 degrees. For every direction, checking the level of degree is very important.

In total there are ten directions four are main directions i.e.

• North
• South
• East
• West

Four are sub directions, which are always in corners

Vaastu Purush-Its Significance

Vaastu Purush

As per classics, Vastu Purusha is present in each and every plot whether it is big or small. He has a fixed and peculiar body. His head remains hanging down and his body is spread all over the length and breadth of the ground. There is an interesting story in the MATSYA PURANA in which the birth of the Vastu Purusha is narrated. By reading that story one knows why the worship of the Vastu Purusha is necessary before beginning constructing any house.

While fighting with the demon, Shiva was very much tired and began to sweat profusely. A man was born of the drops of Shiva’s sweat. He looked very cruel. He was very hungry. So he began to make penance to appease Lord Shiva and get a boon from Him.

Shiva was pleased with his penance and appeared before him. The devotee prayed to Shiva, “Oh Lord! Please permit me to eat away all the three worlds.” Shiva said, “Let it be so.” The devotee’s joy knew no bounds. He got possession on all the three worlds and first he was ready to eat the terrestrial world. Then the celestial beings, Brahma, Shiva and the demons (Rakshasas) also were terrified and caught hold of the devotee encircling him.

Being bound like that, the devotee lay down there only. Since then, he has been lying there surrounded by the celestial Beings and thus he was called “the God of Vastu or VASTU PURUSHA”.

Colours and Vaastu

Colours and Vaastu

The moment one opens his/her eyes, a world filled with colours perceives before him. The impact of these colours on various aspects of our life – emotional, intellectual, materialistic, physical and intuitive – is immeasurable. This is because every color has specific properties and characteristics that influence our moods, behavior and even lifestyle. During ancient times, learned men realized the significance of different colours, and associated them with corresponding planets, the seven major charkas (energy centers) in our body, and seven days of the week. It is no surprise then that colours play a major role in the creation of a good vaastu environment.

It is a well-known fact that colours are basically vibrations of light. When white light hits an object, certain wavelengths (vibrations) are emitted, and these form different colours. White light can be divided into seven primary colours of the spectrum – red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. These colours can then be combined to create secondary colours and shades.

In order to bring harmony in our life and vaastu environment, it is important to understand the properties of these primary colours. These have been discussed below:
